National working group UN convention VET

VET institutions that have signed the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Declaration of Intent are working together in the National UN Convention on VET Working Group. This working group aims to further shape inclusive VET, including actively involving students with support needs. In 2022, the first step for this was taken.

Why participate?

Participation gives you the opportunity to work with other VET institutions to achieve inclusive education and improve studyability for all students.

As a member of the working group, you can:

  • Actively contribute to improving accessible education at your institution
  • Share knowledge about successful initiatives and best practices
  • Develop solutions to challenges around accessibility and inclusion
  • Benefit from training and guidance on the implementation of policies and actions.

The working group meets three times a year to learn from each other and move forward together. ECIO facilitates and supports the meetings.

Goals of the UN treaty working group

The working group strives for inclusiveness in the VET, translating the UN Convention on Disability into educational practice. The focus is on the following key themes:

  • curriculum flexibility: room for customized and adapted instruction for diverse students
  • information literacy: accessible communication and resources for all students
  • internationalization: inclusive education in international contexts and exchange programs
  • transition to the labor market: preparing students for internship and employment.

In addition, the working group is focusing on the following inclusion topics:

  • digital and physical accessibility
  • student participation: active involvement of all students in their learning.
  • accessible testing and examination: providing fair testing opportunities for all students
  • Policy and ownership: Ensure the implementation of inclusive policies within institutions.

Who is the working group for?

The national working group UN convention VET is intended for everyone involved in improving accessible education and implementing the UN convention within VET and who have signed the declaration of intent UN convention Handicap or intend to do so in the near future.
