Your role as dean/support coordinator
“Sight of obstacles, eye for opportunities.”
As a dean or support coordinator, you play a key role in supporting students who encounter barriers, visible or invisible. You help them understand their rights, options and choices, and guide them in applying for appropriate support. This is how you contribute to studyability, equal opportunities and a safe learning environment for all.
Inclusive education approach
“Helping where needed, arranging what can be done.”
You are the point of contact for students who need support due to personal, medical or psychological reasons. By exploring together what does work within the curriculum, and by facilitating customization where possible, you help lower thresholds. You know your way around rules, regulations and facilities and make inclusion concrete.
Inclusive career guidance and orientation
“From limits to future perspective.”
Students with support needs may experience doubts or uncertainties about their future. You help them explore their options in work or further education, taking into account what they need to thrive. By discussing practical obstacles, you support them in finding a realistic route to employment.
Better student wellbeing
“A safety net and signpost.”
Students who don’t feel well are more likely to get stuck. You are often the first person they turn to with concerns about study load, mental pressure or personal circumstances. You listen, think with them and, if necessary, refer them to appropriate help. This makes you an important support point for student wellbeing.
