From education to work
“Guide students to a sustainable place in the job market .”
For many students, the transition from study to work is an exciting step. Especially for students with support needs, this transition does not come naturally. Think of obstacles due to a disability, psychological complaints, social barriers or the lack of a suitable network. As a professional, you play an important role in guiding this transition.
What do we mean by the transition to work?
The transition to work deals with the phase in which students prepare for and enter the labor market. This already starts during their studies – with career orientation, internships, application skills and personal guidance. A successful transition requires customization, timely identification and cooperation with employers and other partners.
What can you do as an education professional?
- Recognize signs of students needing additional support.
- Encourage self-direction and strengthen confidence in one’s own abilities.
- Offer practical help with orientation, job applications and communication with employers.
- Work with internal and external partners on appropriate pathways.
- Provide warm transfer even after graduation.
