As an education professional, you play an important role in guiding students toward their next step: an internship, apprenticeship or job. Especially for students with support needs, personal guidance is important here. Career guidance does not just begin upon graduation – it runs like a thread throughout the program.
Why career counseling is important
For many students, the transition to the job market is exciting. Some need additional support to recognize and take advantage of opportunities. Consider students with:
- a disability or chronic condition
- psychological complaints or stress
- Lack of network or relevant work experience
- little self-confidence or overview of their abilities.
Good guidance helps students find their way with confidence, make appropriate choices and start stronger in the workplace.
